The Benefits of NLP for Personal Development
The benefits of NLP are myriad and different for each student. NLP School founder and head trainer Robbie Steinhouse discovered NLP 25 years ago whilst struggling with running a growing business combined with the demands of family life.
Below is his take on how learning NLP benefitted him and why to study NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming).
Einstein said that a problem cannot be solved using the same level of thinking that created the problem.
What that means to me is that new input is needed to solve chronic problems.
Before I studied NLP, I expended a great deal of energy reacting to things, sadly nothing seemed to be changing. I was also in the wrong state; my ‘bigger picture system’ had simply shut down, and I was overwhelmed by the mountain of work in front of me.
I believe that we all face challenges, at pivotal points in our lives. Difficulties where we feel stuck and need insights, but without doing something different, we can struggle to get that perspective.
The only time we ever truly transcend a problem is when we get new, fresh thinking about it. In other words, we experience the problem from a new level of thinking.
It was learning NLP that helped me to understand this, additionally not only did NLP teach me to communicate far more effectively, I also met an interesting group of people who didn’t have any agenda for me.
I began to consider how to restructure my business, so I could do less, and to my surprise it became far more profitable in time. Had I not found NLP perhaps I would still be that ‘successful on the surface’ stressed out business owner struggling to keep all the plates spinning.
